What's happening at Praekelt Foundation...
Mobile component of 'Speak Africa' Successfully concludes

On 23 August 2009, Praekelt Foundation successfully completed the mobile component of the Speak Africa campaign, in partnership with UNICEF.
The 10-week long campaign, which ran in 7 countries on the African continent, generated 13047 SMS entries and 29 voice entries. Madagascar was the best performing country in the campaign, with over 75% of the SMS entries coming from youth there. This overwhelming response can be attributed to a fantastic partnership with mobile operator, Telma, in Madagascar.
Praekelt Foundation wants to thank the following partners and collaborators in the Speak Africa campaign:
• The UNICEF country offices in Egypt, Ghana, Madagascar, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Uganda.
• All the participating radio stations who donated airtime to promote the campaign and drive youth participation, in particular thanks to 5FM for being the campaign partner in South Africa.
• Colleagues at Techsys informatics and Foneworx for their assistance in the set-up and monitoring of the campaign
