YOZA's goal is to get young people reading and writing in the 'book-poor' but 'cellphonerich' context of South Africa. YOZA library is a digital library of stories available on a mobi site, MXit and Facebook to ensure that as wide a group of young people as possible is reached.
YOZA currently consists of a number of stories with a new chapter released daily to keep the curious readers coming back for more. The stories are all written to be meaningful and relevant to the lives of the readers. Streetskillz, to take just one example, is a soccer series melding international soccer news with a fictional street soccer competition in Du Noon township in Cape Town. YOZA Classics is a section of its own, featuring a range of public domain titles including many works prescribed by Schools like Macbeth.
Praekelt Foundation was tasked with the technical development of the YOZA mobi site, as well as the campaign's presence on MXit.
